These are the General Rules of the Little Lever Premier Pool League and are set out as a guideline to all players. They do not constitute a full set of rules just the main points, if any query arises which is not covered by these rules refer the matter to the committee.
All players should conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner, therefore, any player found to be using threatening or abusive behaviour towards a committee or any other registered player will be considered by the committee to be unsportsmanlike and shall be fined £10 to be paid at the very next captains meeting. If this fine isn’t paid then a 5 point deduction for that player’s team will be enforced at each captains meeting until it has been paid.
1. The Little Lever Premier Pool League is an independent league and is run by an elected committee.
2. The league is run on a non-profit basis. All monies collected are used for stationery and administration costs. The balance of which is then used to pay for trophies and prize money for all prize winners as decided by the committee.
3. Result cards must be placed in box provided at the Conservative Club by 8.30pm on the Sunday following the match, if your card has not been received by this time you will be deducted 2 points. On the second occasion 4 points, on the third occasion 8 points deducted and so on.
4. 1. All league matches are played on Wednesday nights. Any team canceling a match should give a minimum 24 hours notice to the opposing team and must also inform the committee, both of the cancellation and of the re-arranged date for playing the match. If no agreement is initially made, then by the time that the match result card for that game would be in, there must be a card returned to the Conservative Club to advise the league of the cancellation. The cancelling team then has 4 weeks from the date they informed the committee of the cancellation in which to play their re-arranged match. If after the 4 weeks have passed and the match has still not been played then the canceling team will forfeit the match and the opposing team shall been given a 4 + 1 win as long as they have shown to the committee every effort to play the match.
5. A team not turning up for 3 matches in the season will be expelled. At the discretion of the committee any or all players within that team will be banned from playing within the league.
6. If any team drops out of the league or is expelled for any reason in either half of the season, all the results and merits shall be discounted.
7. If you sign on additional players use the forms provided and return them to the committee with your results card (post them in the box along with your results card). The cost for each additional player is £2 after 10 players. A team can sign on new players after the halfway point only with the consent of the committee.
8. Teams who wish to transfer players must contact the committee’s fixtures administrator prior to the transfer to enable the records to be adjusted.
9. Any team found to have played an unregistered player will lose the match 4 – 0. A repeat of such an offence will lead to expulsion from the league.
10. In the event of a dispute of fact or interpretation of a rule arising during a frame, that frame shall be stopped and the dispute resolved by either re-racking the frame or by the referee to the league committee. If this arises it should be noted on the back of the results card. The complaintant must:
a) Inform the opposing captain verbally at the time the dispute arises
b) The players must sign the result card, but his/her captain must refrain from signing the card.
c) Inform the league committee in writing of the dispute by the Sunday following the dispute, accompanying the complaints fee of £5, refundable if the complaint is upheld. The committee will then listen to the dispute in front of both parties and the referee. Any party not attending the hearing will lose the complaint.
11. Players that have been banned from the venue of the night must report to the landlord before the game commences, (it is
then up to the discretion of the landlord whether he/she serve them with alcohol or not).
12. If during the season any team alters the result card to gain advantage or offers a team monies, they will automatically be expelled from the league and any trophies awarded will be forfeited.
13. If payment of league fees are not made on time, i.e. at least £20 per captains meeting, there will be a £5 fine.
14. Captains Meetings – A captain or a player from each team must attend the meeting and must sign in on arrival where they will be awarded 2 points for their team. No points will be awarded if you don’t turn up.
15. Captains can now sign on players under 18 but no younger than 16 year old but must be responsible for their conduct at all times. Any complaints reported to the committee regarding under age drinking or misconduct will carry a minimum £5 fine for that team to be paid at the very next captains meeting. Please check first with the landlord to make sure he/she has no problem allowing them on the premises.
